Play Gaelic Football with STLGAC!

Yo, new player! Ever heard of Gaelic football? It’s like soccer, rugby, and basketball had a wild Irish lovechild. You’re on a big field, kicking and hand-passing a round ball, aiming for points over the bar or goals in the net (worth three points). It’s fast, physical, and a total rush—perfect if you love action but don’t mind a few bruises. No experience? No problem. Just bring some grit and a willingness to learn.
Here in St. Louis, the St. Louis Gaelic Athletic Club is your go-to for jumping in. Started in 2002 by Paul C. Rohde, Dan Lapke, and Pat O’Connor who brought their passion from the Milwaukee Hurling Club, it all began in Tower Grove Park’s south side. From those humble roots, the club’s grown to over 150 members, dishing out Gaelic football, hurling, and camogie (the women’s hurling). They’ve even nabbed some hardware, like the 2013 Junior D Gaelic Football Championship. It’s not just about the game—it’s about keeping Irish traditions alive right here in Missouri.
Why join? First, the fitness is unreal. Gaelic football’s all about sprints, tackles, and quick hands, so you’re building stamina, strength, and agility while having a blast. Plus, you’re preserving Irish culture, connecting to centuries-old traditions through games, events, and maybe a cheeky pint afterward. The camaraderie’s next-level—practices and matches turn strangers into mates who’ve got your back, on and off the field.
The best bit? Our crew’s a total mix—lawyers, baristas, nurses, coders, students, you name it. All ages, all backgrounds, all skill levels. Everyone’s welcome, from total rookies to seasoned players. Come check out a practice! Bring your spikes and we will take care of the rest! You might just find your new crew and a sport you’ll love. Sláinte!
